Reactivity Extends Lead with Web Services Gateway Update
Sets New Standard of Excellence for Identity Integration, Message Handling and Extensibility
BELMONT, CA, October 17, 2005 – Reactivity®, Inc., the leader in secure XML infrastructure, today released XOS 4.3, the latest version of its patent-pending XML operating system software, setting new standards of excellence with its unparalleled XML Web services message and identity processing capabilities and virtually limitless extensibility. The new software also extends Reactivity’s reputation for delivering the fastest, most versatile and secure mediation technology for XML-based SOA and Web services.
With the new software update, Reactivity Gateways become the first to support Integrated Windows Authentication, Microsoft Office Information Bridge Framework and proven Liberty Alliance conformant SAML 2.0.
Along with XOS 4.3, Reactivity today also introduced the industry’s first documented and supported secure software development kit (SDK) program designed to help enterprise developers, system integrators and independent software vendors create secure extensions to Reactivity’s XML infrastructure. (Editors: see press release, “Reactivity’s New Secure SDK Speeds Web Services Integration,” dated October 17, 2005).
“Reactivity is the innovator, the company that enterprises choose when looking at Web services strategically,” said Andrew Nash, CTO of Reactivity. “Organizations thinking about their long-term Web services needs recognize the superiority and scalability of Reactivity’s extensible Adaptive Messaging Architecture, which is purpose-built for secure, high-speed, any-to-any mediation, virtualization and XML processing.”
The Reactivity Adaptive Message Architecture is the foundation of the Reactivity Gateways – the XML Security Gateway optimized for B2B deployments and situated in the DMZ, and the SOA Gateway optimized for cross-data center deployments. Reactivity Gateways are the heart of Reactivity's Secure XML Infrastructure, delivering message transport and security services, identity and access enforcement services, transformation and mediation services and message-policy management services.
XOS 4.3 and Microsoft Identity and Integration Technologies
XOS 4.3, in conjunction with Identity Insight, Reactivity’s exclusive privacy and compliance solution, ensures rapid integration and mediation of identities accessing XML-based Web services by providing greater breadth of authentication tokens and mechanisms. Integrated Windows Authentication enables an organization to easily use their existing Reactivity Gateways to mediate between the authentication credentials received from Windows-based desktop systems, and the authentication requirements of virtually any backend system offering Web services, eliminating the need for Windows users to re-authenticate themselves.“Microsoft is pleased to see Integrated Windows Authentication being used with broad Web services deployments,” said Eric Feagler, group product manager in the Web platform and tools team at Microsoft Corp. “Integrated Windows Authentication is more secure than basic authentication because the password is not sent from client to server. It is also more convenient because someone who is already logged on as a domain user doesn’t have to log in again when using Web services on a network computer in that domain.”
By supporting the Office Information Bridge Framework, Reactivity Gateways make it easier for in-house developers and IT staff to build solutions that provide information workers with access to data such as sales numbers, inventory figures, customer information and other business data via Web services from within familiar Microsoft Office programs.
“Reactivity’s support for Integrated Windows Authentication and the Office Information Bridge Framework is an important part of Xerox’s expanding Web services strategy,” said Larry Titus, manager, Web services infrastructure, Xerox Corporation. “By eliminating the need to re-authenticate every time a desktop user wants to access a Web service and allowing them to access critical data directly from their Office applications, we are able to boost productivity, provide a better user experience and cut down on help desk overhead.”
Liberty Alliance SAML 2.0 compliance enables enterprises to seamlessly apply and integrate federated identity to their XML Web services initiatives, offering greater confidence when applying Reactivity XML Gateways’ integrated and optimized federated identity capabilities to their Web services initiatives. XOS 4.3 also adds WS-Trust, Kerberos and RADIUS support to the SAML, X.509, username/password and basic authentication support Reactivity Gateways already offer, as well as industry-leading compression/decompression capabilities through PKZIP and support for leading anti-virus scanning of XML attachments from companies such as Symantec.
